(Santa Rosa, CA) — Kara Grizzell Whittington,
formerly in marketing and public relations
with the L.A. Opera, has accepted the position
of Box Office Manager for the Santa Rosa Symphony.
Grizzell Whittington, who has performed professionally
as a vocalist and violinist, brings a diversity
of skills to the Symphony staff, including
market research, media buying, copywriting,
database management, special events coordination,
public relations and marketing communications.
Her arts administration experience includes
stints with the Los Angeles Master Chorale
during the opening year of the Walt Disney
Concert Hall, the Los Angeles Philharmonic
and the Hollywood Bowl. Grizzell Whittington
spent time in the marketing department of the
prestigious entertainment law firm Greenberg
Glusker in Century City and later became a
consultant with Arts + Culture LA, a non-profit
organization spearheaded by philanthropist
Eli Broad.
She completed her B.A. in Music Industry Studies
in 2003 and will pursue a Masters in Business
Administration next year. In addition to singing,
she has extensively studied violin, piano and
French horn, following in the musical footsteps
of her mother Janet, a Visalia orchestra teacher,
and her father Earl, a successful producer
and jingle writer.
She recently married Bryan Whittington of
Middlebury, Indiana. The happy newlyweds
now make their home in Santa Rosa.
