The search continues for Santa Rosa Symphonyâs
next music director with the appearance of David
Amado as guest conductor on November 12, 13 and
14 at the Luther Burbank Center. Amado, who has
been music director of the Delaware Symphony
Orchestra since 2002, is the 2nd candidate to
appear during the Symphonyâs ãChoice Seasonä and
the 4th so far introduced to local audiences. He
opens the program with Tree Line, by Toru
Takemitsu, regarded as one of the greatest of
all Japanese composers, and concludes with the
noble Fifth Symphony of Jean Sibelius. Amado
will be joined by pianist Navah Perlman, the
featured soloist in Beethovenâs Piano Concerto
No. 2.
The 37-year-old Amado was born in Philadelphia,
studied conducting and piano at Julliard, and
received his masterâs from Indiana University.
Before taking the podium at Delaware, he was
associate conductor of the St. Louis Symphony
Orchestra, and guest conducted at Royal
Stockholm Philharmonic, Detroit Symphony and the
New World Symphony, among others. Active in
community engagement and music education, he
also founded and served as managing director of
Sequitur, a new music ensemble. Of Amado, the
St. Louis Post-Dispatch has written, ãlyricism
and drama in equal measure and just the right
degree of panache.ä
Known for her lyrical eloquence on the stage,
Navah Perlman has appeared with the Toronto
Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Philadelphia
Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, Prague Symphony
and the Israel Philharmonic. As a recitalist,
she has also received much praise, appearing in
Washington D.C., Dallas, Las Vegas, Scottsdale,
and Baltimore. In addition to her solo career,
she collaborates frequently in chamber music
with violinist Giora Schmidt and cellist Zuill
Bailey as part of the Perlman/Schmidt/Bailey
Trio and works to expand audiences for classical
music by conducting educational and outreach
activities.
These performances of the Santa Rosa Symphony
Classical Series are underwritten by Mrs. Robert
H. Walter. David Amadoâs appearance is

Navah Perlmanâs performance is underwritten by
