(Santa Rosa, CA) — Kara Grizzell Whittington, formerly in marketing and public relations with the L.A. Opera, has accepted the position of Box Office Manager for the Santa Rosa Symphony.

Grizzell Whittington, who has performed professionally as a vocalist and violinist, brings a diversity of skills to the Symphony staff, including market research, media buying, copywriting, database management, special events coordination, public relations and marketing communications. Her arts administration experience includes stints with the Los Angeles Master Chorale during the opening year of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Hollywood Bowl. Grizzell Whittington spent time in the marketing department of the prestigious entertainment law firm Greenberg Glusker in Century City and later became a consultant with Arts + Culture LA, a non-profit organization spearheaded by philanthropist Eli Broad.

She completed her B.A. in Music Industry Studies in 2003 and will pursue a Masters in Business Administration next year. In addition to singing, she has extensively studied violin, piano and French horn, following in the musical footsteps of her mother Janet, a Visalia orchestra teacher, and her father Earl, a successful producer and jingle writer.

She recently married Bryan Whittington of Middlebury, Indiana. The happy newlyweds now make their home in Santa Rosa.
