(SANTA ROSA, CA) –Music Director Bruno Ferrandis and the Santa Rosa Symphony provide mid-winter cheer with concerts on January 26, 27 and 28 at the Wells Fargo Center. The program begins with the Forest Murmurs interlude from Wagner’s opera Siegfried, part of the gigantic Ring cycle. SRS concertmaster Joseph Edelberg moves from his customary first chair to standing in front of the orchestra as he performs Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in E major. Clair de Lune, by award-winning contemporary composer George Tsontakis, and Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony round out the selections for the fourth concert set of the Symphony’s 80th Anniversary season.
The San Francisco Classical Voice has written that violinist Joseph Edelberg is “refined, with thorough command of the music.” He has been concertmaster with the Santa Rosa Symphony since 1997 and has performed for many years with Philharmonia Baroque, San Francisco Opera and American Bach Soloists. He has appeared as guest leader with many Bay Area groups, including the Berkeley Symphony, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Magnificat Baroque Orchestra, American Bach Soloists and the California Symphony. Farther afield, he has appeared at the Grand Teton Music Festival in Wyoming, and as concertmaster at the Summer Festival Orchestras of Mendocino and San Louis Obispo. Edelberg has made solo appearances with the symphonies of Oakland and Berkeley and has recorded with the baroque orchestras mentioned above, the Berkeley Symphony, Chanticleer and Earplay.
