(SANTA ROSA, CA) – Santa Rosa Symphony under the baton of Bruno Ferrandis presents Verdi’s monumental Requiem Mass as the entire program for the December 8, 9 and 10 concerts at the Wells Fargo Center.

The orchestra will be joined on stage by the Santa Rosa Symphony Honor Choir and the following soloists: Teresa Santiago, soprano; Susan Platts, mezzo-soprano; Richard Clement, tenor; and Dean Elzinga, bass baritone. Like the operas for which Verdi is celebrated, his Messa de Reqiuem is full of vigorous rhythms, sublime melodies and powerful contrasts. It is by turns hushed, sorrowful, agitated, consoling, thundering and angelic.

The Santa Rosa Symphony Honor Choir, under the direction of SRS Choral Director Robert Worth, was founded in 2002 after many years of collaborations between the Santa Rosa Symphony, the Sonoma County Bach Choir, the Santa Rosa High School Concert Choir and other groups. The Honor Choir brings together singers specifically for each SRS choral concert, usually including entire ensembles, and often including young singers from local schools. For the Verdi Requiem, the Honor Choir consists of the 60 members of the Sonoma County Bach Choir (directed by Robert Worth) and the 90 members of the Santa Rosa Symphonic Choir (directed by Dan Earl).

Concert Underwriter

The December 8, 9 and 10 performances of the Santa Rosa Symphony Classical Series are underwritten by Louise and Don Johnston. Bruno Ferrandis’ appearance is underwritten by Margaret and Harry Wetzel.
