Education
Training Young Musicians
Santa Rosa Symphony has been providing musical training and performance opportunities for young musicians ages 5 to 23 for over 50 years. Students can participate in any one of the four youth orchestras, a beginning strings workshop or a Summer Music Academy for orchestra, band and jazz players. Beginning to advanced musicians benefit from exemplary training provided by professional musicians as well as the friendship and collaboration they receive from these highly recognized programs.
Music For Schools
As an organization committed to sharing music with young people, the Santa Rosa Symphony offers a number of opportunities for students and their teachers to learn more about music. Free Concerts for Youth bring students into the concert hall, while It’s Elementary, the Elementary School Music Listening Program and the Keeping Score teacher development program all bring music directly into the classroom. Schools across Sonoma County are encouraged to participate in these programs that meet many of the California State Board of Education Music Content Standards.

The education programs of the Santa Rosa Symphony are made possible by the generosity of many people committed to ensuring music is accessible to young people in Sonoma County . We have a number of ways to get involved, support our programs and help to share the gift of music with young people.
Adult Enrichment
Committed to life long learning, the Santa Rosa Symphony has a history of presenting cross-disciplinary projects that engage community groups in dialogue and partnership around artistic themes. Pre-concert talks are provided for all Classical Series concerts which further engage audiences in their enjoyment of classical music. In addition, both the youth and professional ensembles perform in a variety of venues including parks, churches, retirement and assisted living homes.
