Argentine-born composer Osvaldo Golijov has electrified audiences world-wide and received the kind of reaction usually reserved for rock stars. The phenomenal clarinet virtuoso, Todd Palmer, premieres Golijov’s orchestral arrangement of his chamber piece,
Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind. Golijov’s work, deeply influenced by Jewish tradition and klezmer music, finds a remarkable echo in the music of Gustav Mahler written a century before. Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 could be said to be the first chapter in the world’s grandest musical autobiography.
