(SANTA ROSA)—Two Sonoma County visual artists have been selected to exhibit their works in support of the Santa Rosa Symphony. Artists Fran Barrish of Petaluma, and Barbara Kelley of The Sea Ranch and Santa Rosa, will donate a commission from all art sales during this exhibit at the Symphony’s administrative offices to the Symphony’s youth ensembles and music education.

Artist Fran Barrish creates works in watercolor, collage and acrylic. Movement and expression of movement through dance and design are important themes in her work. People in movement as well as her own tradition are major sources of inspiration.

Barrish’s works have won awards and appeared in many solo and group juried shows. She has been an art teacher in schools, camps, and community centers, and a lecturer on art and creativity. Her studio has been part of juried open studio events in the Bay Area.

Barrish received her art training at the University of Chicago, College of Marin, Sonoma State University and with private instructors. She can be reached via email at franberny@juno.com or by phone (707) 778-1696.

Barbara Kelley is a printmaker and painter, creating art in her studio located on the Sonoma County coastal community of Sea Ranch. Exhibiting in a gallery in the 1980s set a course for art education and exhibitions and the evolution of her work. She is the recipient of numerous awards and her work is in galleries and corporate exhibits, and in private collections in Europe, Australia and throughout the United States. Her oil paintings on exhibit with the Santa Rosa Symphony were inspired by the music of the day, some jazz, some pop and some rock.

Kelley is also the curator for the on-site gallery at Mazzocco Winery in the Dry Creek Valley of Healdsburg, where the work of prominent California artists is exhibited. She has taught printmaking in the Point Arena School District, and is a member of the California Society of Printmakers, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Cultural Arts Council of Sonoma County, and is past President of the North Coast Artists’ Guild. She is also a member of the Santa Rosa community of printmakers at The Print Shop.

Visitors to the north coast are welcome to her studio. You may contact Barbara Kelley at: 707-785-9429 or
