The SRS Youth Orchestra, founded in 1959, is a nonprofit organization,
Federal ID #: 94-6134075, and all donations are tax deductible.
Tournament proceeds benefit Youth Orchestra music education activities.

YOUTH ORCHESTRA HISTORY

Founded by a group of concerned citizens representing the Santa Rosa city schools, the Orchestra had its first rehearsal in November, 1959 under the direction of Santa Rosa Symphony concertmaster Eugene C. Shepherd. It is currently conducted by Dr. Richard Loheyde [bio] and is a full symphonic ensemble of 55 musicians, ranging in ages from 13-19.
